And ammonia in meat? I’ve been telling people that for ages. (ammonia would be less necessary if cows were fed grass)
Read. Make smart food choices. Your food purchases are also your vote. Eat food that you can identify, preferably in it’s whole form.
Or, you know what? If you want to eat it, go for it, but don’t you dare prevent truthful food labeling.
Duke [vs. St John], University of Memphis [vs. Marshall], and St. Mary’s [vs. BYU] all WON!
I had the pleasure of attending the University of Memphis game at the FedEx Forum tonight and can I just say, the stadium and game absolutely blew me away! It was like attending the Southern Regionals all over again. The huge crowd, the intense cheers, the fun music courtesy of the sports band, the good pom-pom/cheerleader people, etc. It was AMAZING! I didn’t bring my big camera (because I’ve heard security there is strict on that) but I did bring my Canon point-and-shoot, and my iPhone, so between the two of them I have some decent shots and videos of what turned out to be a very suspenseful and engaging game! It was so much fun to see another team’s strategy and style of playing and compare that to Saint Mary’s (or CBU, a division II school, for that matter) and I enjoyed cheering them on!
They narrowly beat Marshall (GO TIGERS!) while I also “watched” SMC beat BYU (a bit suspenseful toward the end with all the fouls, and debris being thrown on the court…) via Twitter (thank goodness for twitter).
All in all, it was a fabulous night for my college basketball teams!
[I also went to dinner before hand with Stokes, Mary Kate, and their two friends, at this amazing Italian restaurant downtown and it was sooooo delish! Seriously amazing food and drink!]
Tried to make pizza for dinner and thought I was going to die from smoke inhalation.
Lesson learned?
Just because you can successfully cook and do laundry at college or in another country does not mean you can do so at home. Blame it on the appliances.
Also, someone needs to come and join in on this epic Castle marathon. All of my friends that want to live in LA and that’s just not cool. It’s just me and my fishy watching Castle, you know you want to join us!
In like my fourth (or fifth or whatever) random point, I need to do an ab workout. Like asap, last week I had such awesome abs, it’s a shame what a week of slacking will do. But no fear, I think I’m going to re-start 500 pushups and 500 squats in 5 days. It makes me feel accomplished.
Better go watch some more Castle and study up on this program I’m volunteering for. Phone interview/progress check-up thing in the morning…
Something that doesn’t annoy me? The flowers my mother bought me are blooming and are absolutely gorgeous, a touch of beauty! I’ll try to post a photo tomorrow…
*My fishy Rua Róisín Baurizzle II got fresh water and food. I’m sure she’s a happy fish.
*My phone bit the dust (new one on its way)
*I am not going to the basketball game on Monday night because it is late (11pm-1am…eek!) and I need sleep.
*The more I talk about and think about my study abroad experience, the more I realize just how much it taught me.
*I made DELISH homemade bean soup without a recipe today! AND I have enough for 3 more meals (which means I won’t have to freak out when I’m hungry later this week!)
50 calories of no-sugar added awesomeness!
aka homemade strawberry sorbet
[10 frozen organic strawberries + enough water to blend it + time in the freezer]
Can I just give a HUGE thank you to my mother for buying me the awesomest coffee maker and blender! They seriously rock. How did I live without them?
Currently drinking a smoothie with 20 grams of protein. WIN.
In other random news, I went to the Giant’s game on Tuesday with my Japanese exchange students and had THE best time ever. Hopefully I’ll get some ESL teaching apps/cleaning/homework done this weekend so I can start spending time on my photos and post some! (not getting to play around with my Creative Suite package that arrived in the mail this week has been torture. sometimes being responsible sucks.)
Worked with my Uncle. Fun times :)
Saw some cousins (I think they’re cousins…some sort of relatives…and young ones at that lol)
Did P90X (woot. kicked butt.)
Made delish dinner!
Am now exhausted, sore, and happy!
I microwaved a sliced apple and sprinkled it with cinnamon-sugar….DEFINITELY wishing I had just sprinkled it with cinnamon like I usually do…the sugar is making me shaky and hyper as all get out (not good when trying to write a scientific research paper….).
Lesson learned (I hope…I seem to re-learn this lesson pretty often, I’m still not used to being so sugar sensitive…but I can now almost directly relate my headaches and migraines to consumption of refined sugar…)
